New Paintings

Opening Reception 25 July, Sat. 7:00PM
Rock Drilon’s recent paintings are a summation and view of his art form, out from the confines of more than just his relation to the contemporary abstract painting practice, but leading the viewer to the veracity of his life as an artist. Pointing out the major thesis of his work is the exchange of the recurring images and concepts from his past paintings in response to the space where these are finally faced by the space as well as the audience. Drilon depicted a dialectical relationship of the space in which he is very much familiar with and the audience in it –finding themselves enclosed in the life of the artist. The representation of the artist’s paintings lead on to an approach on the use of light, color, and sound recurring images to get the message across, whereby these paintings show his progressive ideals of the present to counter his own balance, stability, and technique from his remote and recent past.
Drilon made use of such treatment of clarity rather than ambiguous representation of abstraction, which the artist is currently experimenting and showcasing in and that it shows traces of prominent past and looking forward not on an overrated futuristic scale but of a made life of art, to veer away the viewer from the conventional didactic tone of visual art as a form. The show is made clear – that the relationship of space and of visual art is morphed and/or transformed into sharpness, shadowing the life of an artist as a profession, furthermore, it is embossed to make those images more significant and powerful. These paintings are embedded to the artist as his signature to mirroring his art and life, portraying an awakening commentary to the reality of his art not being actually didactic rather by way of abstract appropriation of symbols and imagery.
